The Dublin Core Metadata Initiative

The Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) is an open organization engaged in the development of interoperable metadata standards that support a broad range of purposes and business models. DCMIs activities include work on architecture and modeling, discussions and collaborative work in DCMI Communities and DCMI Task Groups, annual conferences and workshops, standards liaison, and educational efforts to promote widespread acceptance of metadata standards and practices. The organization also manages long-term curation and development of DCMI specifications and metadata terms namespaces; sets up and manages international and regional events; manages ongoing discussions of current DCMI-wide work themes; creates and delivers training resources in metadata best practices, including tutorials, webinars, and workshops; coordinates the global community of DCMI volunteers; and more.
