Due South Brewing

Due South Brewing Company is proud to announce that its limited release beer Mexican Standoff has been awarded a silver medal in the Herb and Spice Beer category at the 2018 Can Can Awards , a blind tasting beer competition seeing entries of beers only in cans from across the world. In its third year, the Can Can Awards saw 350 beers entered from across the globe. Judging took place over two days near Atlanta, Georgia. The Can Can Awards competition is sanctioned by the BJCP. Judges were not allowed to judge beers in which they had an affiliation and judged all beers in blind taste tests. Mexican Standoff is the brewery's mole-inspired strong porter. At 8.2% alcohol by volume, it's higher alcohol content and rich chocolate and roasty flavors are complemented with the addition of chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and habanero peppers. This is Due South Brewing's second year in the competition, and in 2017 took home medals for Citrafied Pale Ale (Bronze in American-Style Pale Ale) and Category 5 IPA (Silver, Imperial India Pale Ale). "The blind tasting nature of this competition is what drives us to enter," said Doug Fairall, the brewery's Brand Marketing Manager. "We're thrilled to see Mexican Standoff win a medal. It's always a good feeling when our brewer's hard work is recognized." Due South Brewing Company has been canning beer since 2013 and has continued to produce their year-round beers in cans while adding unique specialty beers, such as Mexican Standoff, to its can lineup in the last couple of years. Now, all Due South Brewing beers are packaged in 16 ounce cans, providing a full pint experience with every pour.
