Easy Star Records

Easy Star Records is a global leader in the progressive reggae movement and one of the most vibrant independent labels in the game. With a close knit but musically diverse roster of artists from Jamaica, England, New Zealand, Hawaii, and all corners of the continental U.S., Easy Star and its family of bands has helped redefine the genre itself, pushing reggae to new levels of fandom. The label has had ten #1 records on the Billboard reggae chart in recent years, along with multiple Top 200 releases in both the U.S. and the U.K. Easy Starâ??s earliest releases featured many in-house productions, as well as reissues and new albums with reggae legends including Sugar Minott, The Meditations, Sister Carol, Tristan Palma, and producer Linval Thompson. In 2003, the label put out Dub Side Of The Moon by Easy Star All-Stars, which went on to become one of the defining records of 21st century reggae, spending over 7 years straight on the Billboard charts. This re-imagining of Pink Floydâ??s Dark Side Of The Moon was followed by more hugely successful tribute records by Easy Star All-Stars, along with influential albums by the groundbreaking American reggae band John Brownâ??s Body and cult favorites Ticklah and Tommy T. In the last 10 years, Easy Star has embraced the growing U.S. reggae scene, working with trailblazers like Rebelution, The Green, Passafire, Cas Haley, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, New Kingston, and The Expanders. Recently, the label has turned its attention outside of the U.S. to work with The Black Seeds, The Skints, Backbeat Soundsystem, and Gentlemanâ??s Dub Club, realizing the goal of connecting different global scenes to further push the boundaries of reggae. At the heart of the Easy Star brand is its commitment to conscientious and professional business. The labelâ??s strong reputation is built on the way it treats its artists and partners, and for expanding the vision of how and where you can market reggae music. Easy Star has been able to keep the concept of a â??record labelâ? relevant in the fast changing music business, by creating a place where fans trust the consistent quality, and where bands can utilize Easy Star to help them realize specific artistic visions and expand their audiences.
