Energie AG Oberösterreich is a multi-utility company with power/gas grid, power stations, water supply, waste disposal, thermal services and telecommunications. In the past 10 years, the telecommunications sector has built around 5000 kilometers of fiber optic backbone in Upper Austria. About 2,500 business customers are connected to it. In addition, the public facilities such as schools, hospitals and municipal office are provided. The fiber optic infrastructure is also used as a backhaul for mobile radio transmission systems. The business area is now also being extended to private customers. From a technical point of view, a FTTH topology with PON technology is selected. In the medium-term planning, Energie AG has provided 100,000 FTTH connections. This in turn requires a complete automation of the deployment process and provisioning. This also implies a high degree of flexibility in product development. Ultimately, private customers have a very high level of service and information needs. With Axirus and Kapsch a project was implemented that solves these problems in a sustainable and economical manner.
