We are the only construction firm I know of that's recruiting at the moment. We've spent the last ten years investing in our people; retention is a challenge as you can't lock people down. You have to be strong to your principles and your culture, and we train our own the _space way. However now as the industry has changed we are bombarded with CVs of mega-talented people across the UK. 5. As a successful company based in the North East, what are the challenges you foresee in the future for your business? The challenge is sustaining a construction business. We've set our budgets for the year and there is no growth, but we are diversifying - for example we're looking at using our technology advantage in designing our own products. We are a North East based company but we won't be a success if we only do business here, the region provides three percent of GDP so is a tiny pond. It will be great if we can expand and bring that wealth back into the North East, it's a great region and one I enjoy coming back to on Fridays after a week away.
