Ethanol

Ethanol Company Limited (EthCo) was established in 1982 in response to the 1970 energy crisis. The Company is the pioneer of molasses based ethanol production in Malawi. Since its inception in 1982, the Company has produced well over 300 million litres of Ethanol at both 99.5%v/v and 96%v/v ethanol strength. The Company is Malawi's sole producer of potable (Extra-Neutral Spirit) alcohol that is used by the beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. Potable alcohol is the Company's head line product. Besides this product, anhydrous alcohol (Fuel Ethanol), and Rectified alcohol for industrial applications are also produced. EthCo's mission is to attain an above target return on investment for the benefit of shareholders and other stakeholders through safe and efficient production and the supply of reference -quality ethanol and allied products on a sustainable basis. The Company's vision is to be an innovative and reliable supplier of reference-quality ethanol and allied products in Africa. EthCo has six core values namely: innovation, integrity, excellence, commitment, fairness, socially and environmentally responsible. These have been singled out to shape and guide the organization's culture and behavior.
