FIRST Washington

FIRST Washington was awarded a Computer Science Education iGrant by OPSI to launch a professional development (PD) program for elementary and middle school teachers to learn STEM Robotics 101 which enhances the FIRST LEGO League program and provides an approachable hands-on introduction to Computer Science (CS) and STEM for classroom teachers and students alike. These twelve 2-day classes held from April-August 2016 were overwhelmingly popular and impactful, reaching 160+ teachers around the state with sessions held in 7 of the 9 ESD regions. FIRST Washington plans to build on this success by partnering with private and public donors across Washington to continue this PD opportunity.
