FOI

FOI's main task is to conduct research, method and technology development and research work for national defense. FOI is Sweden's largest combined research organization for the defense and security of society. FOI's knowledge-building research is conducted primarily in the mainstream research order from the Armed Forces and in some of the grant-funded projects from the Defense Ministry and the Foreign Ministry. The knowledge of defense and security that FOI has built up can also be applied to other customers. FOI is working with governments, businesses and even with international customers, especially in the defense sector. FOI divides its operations into knowledge-building and kunskapstillämpande business. The knowledge-building part of the activities designed to build knowledge in a long term perspective and takes place mainly in projects within the mainstream order from the Armed Forces and through some portion of the grant from the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Ministry. These are necessary conditions for FOI should be able to assist customers with research-based knowledge. The second part, knowledge application, means that FOI's expertise is used to solve real problems for The company customers.
