Beroth Oil
Beroth Oil Company was founded in July, 1958 as V. V. Beroth Oil Co. with V. V. Beroth, Sr. as the sole owner. Beroth was founded as a Fuel Distributor for the Amoco Oil. Co, distributing gasoline and fuel oil (home heating oil) in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina area. The owner purchased three tank wagons from the previous distributor (R. W. Craft) when Amoco Oil consolidated its operations at its Friendship terminal in Guilford County, North Carolina. Beroth was an agent for Amoco until 1964 when thru the leadership of Amoco's district manger, W. B Paterson, it became a Jobber for Amoco in Forsyth, Yadkin, and a portion of Davidson and Guilford counties in N.C. The business was fitst a Cartage Contractor with Amoco becoming a Jobber in December 1964. The business aspects continued to blossom with the adding of automotive products known as TBA (tires, batteries accessories) in the early 1960's. Since the beginning, all of Beroth's four sons have worked in the business while either holding down others jobs or attending school. Beroth's sons, V. V. Beroth, Jr., George, Thornton and Winfield started working full-time at different times with Vernice starting after graduation from High Point University with responsibilities of driving a fuel oil/gasoline tank wagon and office duties. V. V. Beroth, Jr was the first son to join the business full-time.
