Fire Protection Service

Fire Protection Service Corp. was founded as Fire Protection Company in 1950 by William Lee. Mr. Lee founded a sales organization that pioneered the fire detection business in the state of Utah. Peary Barker became a salesperson for the company in 1952. By 1954 Mr. Lee was interested in the manufacturing end of Fire Protection and he sold the company to Peary Barker, the top salesman for the company, in order to pursue new alarm technologies as an inventor and manufacturer. Mr. Barker incorporated Fire Protection Company into Fire Protection Service Corp. in 1954. For 20 years, until he retired in 1974, Mr. Barker served residences and an increasing number of commercial and government buildings with quality life and property protection systems. In 1960, Mr. Barker acquired a share of Mr. Lee's manufacturing company, Thermotech Inc. Since 1960 Thermotech has operated successfully as a subsidiary of Fire Protection Service Corp. Thermotech manufactures and sells a unique array of fire alarm thermostats worldwide. This acquisition and his 20 years of pioneering efforts in the life safety industry have made Mr. Barker's contributions to the Company, and the whole industry, of tremendous significance. When Mr. Barker retired in 1974, Rodney G. Garner was promoted to president of the Company. Mr. Garner’s major accomplishments in the last 30 years include the Company's entry into the security systems business and the creation of Mountain Alarm, a division of the Company that pursues the security systems business. The continual internal growth of the Company, as well as its numerous acquisitions of related security companies (such as the recent acquisitions in Idaho, Colorado, Arizona and Washington) will continue to propel the Company into the ranks of the nations largest Alarm Companies.
