Gaia Enterprises started as a manufacturer of specialty chemicals (solvents, degreasers, and corrosion inhibitors) that were sold to power generation companies, construction firms, railroads, and municipal governments. Our products helped these entities comply with strict environmental regulations and equipment manufacturer's specifications. Failing to comply results in EPA fines and the voiding of manufacturers warrantees. In 1986 we received a number of patents on our ice melting product, Safe Thaw™, which was designed to solve the many problems associated with using salt-based ice melters at nuclear power construction sites. The Safe Thaw formula proved to be: Environmentally safe (land and waterways) Non-corrosive to all metals Non-conductive (won't short out circuits) Safe on paints, plastics, and rubber Safe on asphalt, concrete, and pavers Nontoxic to animals and humans In 1992, we decided to market this product to new users (markets) under several names including: Safe Thaw™-Its non-corrosive and non-conductive properties attracted various commercial and government clients. Safe Thaw was also approved by the FAA for use on airport runways and jet ways. Paver Saver™-Touted as the only product that is safe for concrete pavers and other hardscape products. Paver Saver was approved and recommended by the manufacturers of concrete pavers. Helipad Deicer (Helipad™)-Non-corrosive to all parts of the helicopter and associated equipment. Helipad Deicer grips the ice during its liquid phase. This prevents the product from blowing during helicopter operations and decreases accidental injuries to passengers. In 1996 we created the Safe Paw™ brand (same formula as Safe Thaw) designed to sell to the pet industry (retail consumers and veterianarians).
