At ScribeWare, we believe that quality inspection reports cannot be written on a phone. Onsite reporting, while sometimes convenient for the home inspector, does not allow adequate time to write a thorough report and digest your onsite data collection and findings. We have experimented with many apps for data collection and have found that they slow up and disrupt the inspection process. The onsite time doing the inspection, collecting data and delivering information to the client is invaluable. With our noses our stuck in an app, hunting and pecking for the boxes we want, we find this takes us out of the process of doing a home inspection and increases our liability, and gives a poor impression to the client. With that said, we continue to research the best ways to use a mobile app to help with data collection, but have not found an agreeable solution that works for us to date.
