Established in 1998 as a fledgling computer retailer, Globalchips Technologies, Co. has since grown to become one of Cagayan de Oro's leading companies in information technology sales and services. With only four personnel when it started, Globalchips struggled to make its mark against stiff competition from established computer companies in the city during its initial year. The next year proved very good for the company as the IT industry in Cagayan de Oro suddenly boomed, and Globalchips responded to market demand with the establishment of its subsidiary company and service arm, SmartPC Computer Service Center, Inc. Together, their services expanded to include PABX installation, LAN/WAN networking, and others. A few months after its service center was established, its engineers were sent to a Compaq competence training in Davao City. With ease, all the engineers passed the exams thus granting Globalchips and SmartPC the Authorized Service Provider distinction for Compaq products. Compaq users found ease and convenience in claiming warranties within the region. This has been the niche of the company throughout its years of existence. This certification opened other doors to greater things as Globalchips also became an Authorized Service Center for Hewlett Packard (HP) upon Compaq's merger in 2003 with HP, a leading global provider of computing and imaging solutions and services. Globalchips' consistent excellent service has enabled them to win HP's Outstanding Authorized Service Provider in Mindanao award three times and was awarded as Outstanding Managed Partner, Outstanding Retail Partner in Mindanao for the year 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 by Hewlett Packard Philippines. Globalchips is also accredited as the only HP Authorized Service Delivery Partner in Mindanao. The company has service engineers who are accredited to handle HP, Lenovo, IBM, Acer and Emerson Liebert products. Over the past several years, Globalchips Technologies, Co. has continued to evolve in the delivery of the latest IT products and services augmented by a worldwide network of distributors, dealers and system integrators. Presently, the company is based in Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro City and has a branch in Pueblo de Oro and in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
