Gorman McCracken Volkswagen
We started as a family business and have been able to proudly serve generations of Longview families. Whether it's mechanical service, financing, or just finding the VW or Mazda vehicle that's right for you, our dealership family proud to serve you! In 1960, our founder James Francis Gorman founded the dealership to serve the people of Longview. In 1966, Clarence "Mack" McCracken became Gorman's partner and the name was changed to Gorman McCracken Volkswagen. In 1972, ownership of the dealership changed hands to Edward Russell Jr. and in 1997 his son Edward "Rusty" Russell III took over the dealership. Finally, in 2003, Carl Barnett Sr. purchased the dealership, bringing the rechristened Gorman McCracken Volkswagen into his family of dealerships, including Paris Ford Lincoln and the latest addition: Onion Creek Volkswagen, which is Austin's largest Volkswagen dealership. Mr. Barnett began his automotive career in 1966 as an assembly worker for GM in Flint, Michigan. Through hard work, and tenacity, Mr. Barnett worked his way up through the auto industry, purchasing his first dealership in 1991 beginning what today is known as the Barnett Auto Group. Our History
