Grand Traverse Construction
Grand Traverse Construction was originally founded in the early 1970's by Roy Olk and joined by his partner Louis Holstad a couple of years later. They operated the company until 1984, at which time they closed the doors until 1989 at which time it was reformed by Roy Olk, David E. Hiem and Charles Chadwick. Medical, educational, church and municipal commercial structures are part of the construction history of the firm. In 2001, Elmer's Crane & Dozer Inc. of Traverse City, purchased the company and until 2005 was involved in a number of high profile commercial projects that included the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce building, Old Mission School and Goodwill building, among others. It was in 2006 that Grand Traverse Construction's present owners assumed control of the company. President Bryan Lawton's background is in concrete services where he compiled a career of over a dozen years. Today's Grand Traverse Construction company shares a building legacy that dots the Northwest Michigan commercial building landscape. By offering concrete and carpentry skills, clients are assured of an in-house, hands-on approach to all basic building requirements. With an eye to the future and embracing timely Green building initiatives like water and energy efficiency, and conservation of materials and resources, Grand Traverse Construction and its partners will play a vital role in commercial building in Northwest Michigan.
