Since 1948, Green Hills Memorial Park has been serving individuals and families of San Pedro and Palos Verdes Peninsula with compassion, competence and a full complement of memorial properties to honor the lives who have built, served and enriched our community. In that time, our region has continued to expand and evolve. When we first opened our gates over sixty years ago, San Pedro and Palos Verdes Peninsula were growing post-war communities in need of more expansive cemetery options. In a partnership between local business owners and community members, 120 acres of property were acquired and transformed into an extraordinary park-like setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Palos Verde Peninsula and the Los Angeles skyline. This property became known as Green Hills Memorial Park. From the beginning, our founders envisioned a location of rare beauty and tranquility, created by the harmonious blend of rolling hills and manicured gardens. This vision was quickly embraced by our community's residents, who continue to entrust our staff and location with the memories of their loved ones. Our community soon came to recognize Green Hills Memorial Park not only for our exceptional location and setting, but also for the integrity of our staff and the quality of our service. Green Hills Memorial Park was among the first to introduce our community to the substantial benefits - financial and emotional - of pre-planning and pre-selecting interment property. Within a few years of opening, thousand of residents had secured memorial locations, as well as peace of mind, for their families. Since our founding in 1948, over 75,000 families have chosen Green Hills Memorial Park to help them secure a lasting, dignified and picturesque memorial property for loved ones. Today, we operate as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting the original vision of our founders, by protecting the natural beauty and meticulous landscaping of our park.
