GuidePal was founded in 2009 out of a passion for travel and a mission to provide smart mobile city guides that are carefully curated with only the best tips as well as being intelligent, objective and created by experts actually living in the cities. With over 6.5 million downloads and heaps of positive feedback, we feel proud to say that we've succeeded in this mission. Today, our mission has developed even further. We want to be your complete travel and city discovery companion. We believe that people do not want to toggle between multiple apps when travelling - they want to have it all in one app, like a concierge in their pocket. So we've added a lot of new features in our app which assist our users throughout the entire travel cycle, from planning, booking and then experiencing. You can also build your own personalised guides, collect your favourite places and share your tips with friends. How do you select the places in your guides? We have teams of local travel experts around the world who are constantly feeding us with new tips as wells as checking the existing tips to make sure they still deserve a place in our guides. Each new tip is then carefully vetted by our content team to make sure it lives up to our high quality standards before being added to the guide. Can a venue pay to be in your guides? No, a venue cannot pay to be featured - this would go against everything that GuidePal stands for. We only recommend places that we genuinely believe to be the best of the best. How do you choose your local experts? It has taken several years for us to build up our network of local experts around the world. Our local experts are individuals who love exploring their city - for the most part they are bloggers, photographers, or journalists; people who already have an interest in documenting the places they love. We go through a selection process to ensure that the right locals are chosen for each city. Do the locals write your articles? We pride ourselves on having high quality editorial produced by experienced journalists. Our locals always have a passion for their city, but only sometimes have a background in journalism. So we team them with travel writers who have proven expertise on that specific city - together, they craft the content. The local supplies the tips and insider information, while the journalist ensures that the text is relevant, informative and intelligent. Can I be a local expert?
