Hannah the Pet Society was founded in part to make lives better for Pets. We are not a Pet shop nor do we search for the Perfect Pet Match at puppy mills or un-reputable shelters. Animal Rights Awareness Week began as a way to get the word out on the conditions of puppy mills, some Pet shops, shelters, labs, zoos and even circuses and that's a cause we can stand behind. Hannah's goal is to help re-home as many Pets stuck in shelters as we possibly can and keep those Pets from returning to shelters. One way we do this is to ensure the Pet is physically healthy without behavior issues (both top reasons why Pets are sent to or returned to shelters) and we also require Hannah members to take a personality test and interview process to ensure that their lifestyle matches to the right Pet (another reason why Pets are abandoned). Animal Rights Awareness week doesn't necessarily have to end today. Petmeds.org provides some tips on how to keep hope alive and ensure that Pets and animals worldwide are treated with compassion: • Buy organic or free-range meat, chicken or dairy products • Don't buy or wear fur products • Report animal/Pet cruelty • Prevent contributing to the Pet overpopulation by ensuring your dog or cat is spayed or neutered • Adopt your Pets from a shelter rather than buying from a Pet shop If you are looking to adopt a Pet we encourage you to avoid puppy mills and Pet shops as well.
