Isle of Harris Distillery

Isle of Harris Distillery

Isle of Harris Distillers has been established to create the island's first distillery. It intends to produce a single malt whisky of the highest quality (The Hearach)- distilled, matured and bottled on the island. Additionally, we will produce an Isle of Harris gin, primarily for sale to our visitors. The distillery is now taking shape in Tarbert and will be opening its doors in April 2015. It will operate all year and will be open to guests, (both local and visitors) up to six days a week, with production of our spirits taking place from Monday to Friday. Our full team will be in place by March 2015, with each and every employee playing a key role in the success of the business and the promotion of the island. With the distilling plant itself due on the island in November, it's time to start building our production team and we're now looking for people to fill the first two positions. Our Production Manager will ensure that Production operations at the distillery sites are run efficiently and safely to meet the high standards of quality and compliance required. A hands-on role, the majority of your time will be spent carrying out production activities, including spirit production, warehousing and bottling as well as maintaining the distillery and all its assets. The rest of your time will be spent supporting the team to meet the goals of the business in line with the Isle of Harris Distillers ethos. Previous experience within a Distilling environment would be useful as would knowledge of HMRC procedures, however industry-specific training will be given. What would serve you well is an engineering/technical background, regulatory awareness (e.g. H&S, Environmental) and strong man management and communication skills. As a key member of a small team with diverse operations, you must be flexible, resourceful and able to ensure that the production team fully supports the wider visitor operations. Our Distillers will work alongside the Production Manager, carrying out all production activities safely and efficiently to produce the highest quality spirits. You too will look after the distillery and plant and help showcase the island and the Company. Again, while distilling/warehousing experience would be helpful, we would be interested to hear from you if you have a technical/engineering background or trade, are driven by high standards and enjoy working as part of a team. (This role could be one full-time or two part-time positions). Every member of the team will have Harris at their heart, so will be ambassadors for the island. As such, your personality and behaviour will embody all that Isle of Harris Distillers stands for. To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter, stating which role(s) is/are of interest to: Simon Erlanger, Isle of Harris Distillers Ltd., 18 Charlotte Square, Edinburgh, EH2 4DF or by email to: [email protected].
