Hermosa View School

Our Hermosa Valley School Living With Science laboratory is a modular learning resource for all third through fifth graders. Students attend for one hour each week receiving support and enrichment for the state science standards curriculum. As the teacher of this program, my ability to act as a resource for students is enhanced by my ability to monitor students as they work, from my own computer. Collaborating with a partner, students complete hands-on experiments, combined with writing, reading and computer based activities. An important aspect of this program is that students follow the steps of the scientific inquiry process every time they complete one of the 16 graded lab lessons. Students are assessed individually in each of the 4 areas of physical science, life science, earth science and scientific reasoning. Parents are always welcome to drop by the lab to see our young scientists in action.
