The Center for Head Injury Services

The Center for Head Injury Services is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that helps people with brain injuries, autism and other disabilities lead full and productive lives. Founded in 1986, the Center has been providing rehabilitative and support services in our community for over 30 years. The Center offers 18 programs individualized to meet the needs of participants. These programs include medical therapies, vocational and employment services, two adult day services programs and two social enterprises. Each year, the Center helps more than 1,000 people in the St. Louis metropolitan area. All of the Center's programs are accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), an independent, international, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services providers. Accreditation ensures the highest industry standards possible, providing risk reduction and accountability. In 2017, the Center earned a three-year accreditation for our programs (a three-year accreditation is the highest level of accreditation that can be given to an organization). The Center has received this highest level of accreditation every three years since 1999 and the Center is one of only five CARF accredited providers in the state of Missouri that serves adults with autism. The Center meets the Better Business Bureau's Standards for Charity Accountability, which seek to encourage fair and honest solicitation practices, to promote ethical conduct by charitable organizations and to advance support of philanthropy.
