Heatherwood School

Heatherwood School

We are a coeducational community special day school which opened in 2008 for children and young people aged between 3 and 19 years. Our designation is for pupils who have severe learning difficulties and additional profound and complex physical / medical needs. The school was created as the result of a total reorganisation of Doncaster's special schools and so the staff have been selected for their skills and experience in working with our children. We are a Local Authority maintained school and serve the needs of the whole of the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough. The school is situated in a pleasant location near Doncasters racecourse and is approximately 4 miles out of the town centre. It is on the site of a former special school which was extended and in part refurbished to provide the building we have today. The School is a fun, lively, stimulating learning environment and in addition to the teachers and classroom support staff, we work very closely with colleagues from the therapy and school nursing service. We are always looking to create more opportunities to extend our pupils' learning experiences. Our children deserve the very best we can provide for them and our aim is to ensure they achieve their full potential.
