HELPLINE
HELP LINE is New York City's oldest nonprofit crisis and suicide hotline. Founded in 1969 by Dr. and Mrs. Norman Vincent Peale, it provides an immediate and empathic response to the people of the greater New York metropolitan area who are troubled or in crisis. Trained staff and volunteers talk with callers about their situations and define and explore their options. Since its beginning, HELP LINE has responded with care and compassion to over two million callers. HELP LINE provides 3 different services: Crisis Hot Line, Information and Referrals, and CheeRing. In 2003, HELP LINE became a program of the Jewish Board of Family and Children Services. HELP LINE provides three different telephone listening services to callers: a crisis hotline, an information and referral service, and CheeRing.
