The Herdy

The Herdy

The company was established in 2007 by designers, Spencer and Diane Hannah, to offer visitors to the Lake District, a choice of responsibly produced, high quality, giftware. Good design is at the core of the Herdy business and all Herdy products are designed from scratch at the company's base in Kendal. Since its launch the company's reach has extended well beyond its Lakeland boundaries. The original range of giftware has been expanded to include woven home furnishings, craft kits, clothing, stationery and an illustrated children's storybook. The company now supplies 50 retailers in the Lakes and over 250 retailers throughout the UK. In 2010 Herdy opened its first shop in the beautiful village of Grasmere and began exporting products to both Japan and the U.S. Each year the company donates a percentage of profits to the Herdy Fund, supporting sustainable rural communities, upland fell farming and of course the Herdwick sheep. In 2010 Herdy received the 'Small Company of the Year' award from the Business in the Community organisation, and have been re-accredited in subsequent years with BITC's Big Tick 'responsible business endorsement'. The BITC recognised The Herdy Company for their policy of giving back to the region that inspired them, through the 'Herdy Fund' and for their responsible business practice.
