HMA3D was founded in 1995 in Barnsley, South Yorkshire by managing director, Rob Hill. At this time virtual reality outside the film and television industry was practically unheard of and the work at that time was seen as pioneering. This resulted in the company winning two property marketing awards, the first in 1997 for Aztec West, Bristol and the second in 1999 for Lakeshore, Heathrow. Steve Pickup, 3D director joined HMA3D in 1997 and now heads up the CGI team. Steve is one of the most experienced 3D designers in the UK and is now responsible for HMA3D's London operation.
