HOC was set up by the Govt. of India in 1960, to achieve self reliance in chemical production. The major thrust was given to reduce dependance and import of vital organic chemicals, which was a prime factor as far as the growth of indigenous industry was considered. The main products manufactured by HOC are Phenol, Formaldehyde, Acetone, Nitrobenzene, Aniline etc. Ever since it's beginning in 60's HOC has strived hard to achieve it's goal of self-reliance.
