Hystat Systems

Hystat Systems Ltd was established in Huddersfield in 1976 to service the market in heavy duty hydraulic cylinders. Up to 1982 manufacture was carried out on a sub contract basis until the company moved to its current site at Spa Fields Industrial Estate, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield. The original site housed only one building but the site was large enough to accommodate the company's growth and expansion over the following years. The premises today have been extended three times and are over four times larger than the original building. In 1986 the company purchased the intellectual property and some machinery from the receivers of Spenborough Engineering Ltd, a company in a similar field. Spenborough Engineering were a long established manufacturer of Hydraulic Cylinders, supplying many industries, particularly crane manufacturers. The information is still retained by HYSTAT who are able to supply spares or replacements for equipment supplied by Spenborough. In 1992 the drawings and commercial records of Cattermole Hydraulics Ltd, a hydraulics company including Weston Hydraulics, were purchased from the receiver. Cattermole Hydraulics and Weston Hydraulics were very well recognised manufacturers of Hydraulic Cylinders, supplying the steel and heavy Industries. HYSTAT acquired the rights for all drawings, technical knowledge, sales records and right to use the name. HYSTAT are therefore in a position to supply spares, replacements or technical information for the Cattermole range of equipment. In 2004 the HYSTAT group acquired a local sub contract company, Bank Bottom Engineering Services. This engineering company has been operating from its site in Honley since 1952. It consists of a modern machine shop with state of the art machinery, including horizontal and vertical machining centres and multi-axis turning centres. In 2010 Hystat procured the assets of Titan Manufacturing, a Hydraulic Cylinder manufacturer based in Halifax. The acquisition included all sales records, engineering drawings and technical information relating to products produced by Titan and associated companies. Today Hystat operates from 2 sites in Huddersfield with over 45,000 sq ft of production facilities at its disposal.
