Heavy Torrential Rains cause extensive Flooding in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. Monsoon rains have caused extensive flooding in Jakarata and surrounding areas since early Wednesday, January 16th, 2013. 12 people have been reported killed, approximately 20,000 displaced from their homes and about 95,000 affected as a direct result of the floods. Meteorologists predict that the heavy rains will continue through the weekend, giving rise to fears that the flooding may worsen. ICNA Relief Canada is collecting funds for ourIndonesian Flood Reliefefforts and our local project implementation partners have already begun rescue efforts, and are providing emergency shelter, food, drinking water and other needed supplies to the affected.
