International Institute of Rural Reconstruction
International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) teaches and empowers people to pull themselves out of poverty. Instead of handouts, IIRR puts communities on the path to grassroots, sustainable, community-led development. Current programs include education for pastoralists (especially girls); food security, clean water, and child nutrition; asset building and micro-enterprise for women and girls; and disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation. IIRR has field offices in The Philippines, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan. It also places a unique focus on women and girls because it believes investing in women is the most effective solution to poverty.
