Independent Mechanical Industries, Inc. (IMI) is a full service mechanical contractor specializing in the installation of mechanical equipment, power & process piping and mechanical service maintenance for central heat & cooling plants, water & waste water treatment plants, pumping stations, institutional, municipal, commercial and industrial facilities. Incorporated in 1923, IMI has been serving the mechanical contracting needs of businesses, municipalities and energy companies, for three generations. The company performs work in Illinois, northern Indiana, and southern Wisconsin. IMI utilizes the latest technologies for estimating, scheduling, design, coordination, fabrication and project management. These capabilities allow IMI to provide complete turnkey services on projects of various sizes and complexities. IMI can perform work, when required, in accordance with the A.S.M.E. codes, A.N.S.I. standards, and state regulations. IMI presently maintains four A.S.M.E. code stamps. These stamps are: "U" - Manufacture of Pressure Vessels, "PP" - Fabrication and Assembly of Pressure Piping, "A" - Assembly of Power Boilers, "H2" - Heating Boilers. In addition, IMI is certified by The National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors to repair and/or alter boilers, pressure vessels, and other pressure-retaining items.
