Infusion Nurses Society

The Infusion Nurses Certification Corporation (INCC) is a separate corporation from the Infusion Nurses Society (INS). INCC was established in 1983 to develop a credentialing program to increase positive patient outcomes and to enhance the specialty of infusion nursing by: Recognizing and raising infusion nursing standards, policies, and procedures. Reducing practice errors: A knowledgeable and dedicated nurse is more likely to recognize a problem and take the most appropriate action. Increasing the patient's confidence through the documented credibility of the nurse's proficiency. Increasing the value of the infusion nurse to their employer and their patients. Establishing a level and breadth of knowledge and skill necessary for the infusion nurse. Ensuring the validity and competency of nurses working within the specialty of infusion nursing. Assuring exposure to the latest developments and technologies. Promoting the advancement of the infusion specialty. Networking: Attendance at INS National Meetings provides the opportunity to meet other professionals within the infusion nursing specialty. There are many aspects of test development and analysis, which require the involvement of experts in the fields of business, test administration, and infusion therapy. INCC is governed by a Board of Directors who oversee research efforts and all the financial and procedural aspects of INCC. The RN Examination Council, in conjunction with Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc. (AMP), are responsible for the development and administration of the CRNI® examination. The Council consists of CRNI®s who are recognized experts in the content areas of the examination. AMP is a national testing agency that contributes psychometric expertise to the test development, test administration, and test evaluation process. I was very proud when I received a letter in the mail confirming my success with the CRNI® exam. I am still proud when patients ask me questions and former students of mine remember me and what I taught them in class. Now working in a new care setting, the ER, my skills and knowledge are recognized by my peers. I am just as proud to sign CRNI® after my name today as I was the day I opened that letter.
