Inter Island Airways

Our rich history goes back in the early 1990's when Inter Island Airways was established in August 1993 as a U.S. On-Demand Air Taxi Carrier, receiving its Part 135 air carrier certificate in September 1995. Inter Island Airways began providing air service between Pago Pago (Tutuila Island) and the Manu'a Islands (Ofu and Tau) with two 9-seater Aero Commander aircraft. From 1998 to 2002, Inter Island Airways invested capital in expanding its maintenance and operation facilities, and in the acquisition of a modern aircraft fleet of STOL (for Short Take-Off and Landing) such as the 19-seater Dornier 228-212 aircraft. Inter Island Airways re-initiated on-demand passenger and cargo flight operations in November 2003 between Pago Pago, Ofu and Tau. In June 2005 Inter Island Airways initiated on-demand passenger and cargo service between Pago Pago and Apia, Samoa. In July 2007, Inter Island Airways received Commuter Air Carrier Authorization from the U.S. Department of Transportation, allowing for scheduled flights between two points. In December 2010, Inter Island Airways began operating 30-seater Dornier 328-100 aircraft between Pago Pago and Apia. Inter Island Airways plans to expand into regional routes in mid-2014 with service between Pago Pago and Tonga (Vava'u and Nuku'alofa), Niue and Fiji (Suva) as it links up with its sister airline, Inter Island Airways (Fiji) Limited or offer joint flight scheduling and code sharing.
