IRDG has been created to provide such support and have decided to develop models that could be used by like minded individuals and organisations to replicate and assist in creating sustainable livelihood and jobs in the war affected provinces. Swashakthi is a credit plus scheme that offers a package of support which supplements the access to financing and would be used by IRDG in conjunction with other grants and assistance from the donor community to fund business start-ups. The diaspora community must reconsider their current mode of providing charity to the war affected areas and think of supporting efforts that would create sustainable livelihood, thereby contributing to regional development. The hand-outs need to be confined to only the seriously marginalised vulnerable as a safety-net. The most important support that could be provided by the diaspora are support to market the produces of the villagers of the war affected areas to their respective countries and provide knowledge support required for international marketing.
