Iwate University

The general public was invited to offer design proposals for the university emblem and the current emblem with the paulownia flower was decided on by a student vote. The university also invited the school community to propose school song lyrics in May 1951 as part of its anniversary celebration. Lyrics written by a liberal arts student were voted as the best, but they were deemed as more fitting for a "students'song"rather than the school song. Music for the lyrics was composed by an associate professor of the liberal arts department, and the"Song of Iwate University Students" was completed in 1953. Today the song is sung at every school event. Song of Iwate University Students
