Jacobi's Carpet One

The company always had a simple mission statement, "To sell a good product at an honest and fair price and back that product by service before and after the installation." The early days weren't easy. As Ed tells it, "We all worked day and night. We sold, we installed, we worked in the warehouse. We did it all. My wife was our bookkeeper and even our children helped out." Fourteen years later, in 1986, with son Tim involved in the business, they decided to team up with Carpet One, America's Largest Floorcovering Retailer. "The decision to join Carpet One was the best business decision I ever made," said Ed. "It gave us significant national advantages like 1500 store buying power, Installation Excellence, professional training and much more. Combined with our family's personalized service and community involvement, it is an unbeatable combination that enables us to give our customers more." Year after year, the installation department and Jacobi Carpet One is awarded "Five Diamond" status by Carpet One; the highest installation quality certification in the nation. The entire sales staff also receives product and service training from Carpet One University. In 1992, Ed announced his retirement and selected his son Tim to become president. As Ed noted, "this business does not need two bosses. Even today, Ed comes into the office nearly everyday. Under Tim's leadership, Jacobi Carpet One opened a second store in Kearney, in 1999, to serve the growing Kearney area. In 2004, the company merged notable window treatment and interior design showroom, Plaid Pear Interiors & Design, into the Hastings location, realizing Tim's vision of becoming "the single store for home decor." Today, Jacobi Carpet One Floor & Home is one of the largest independent floorcovering and interior decorating stores in Greater Nebraska. Jacobi Carpet serves residential homeowners, builders, commercial, office customers and institutions throughout Nebraska.
