Jefferson Unitarian Church

At JUC we take a wide perspective on worship. To worship is to give value to something - to imbue it with meaning and importance within our lives. It would be descriptive to say that many Unitarian Universalists do not come to church to express adoration. However, in our services and in many of our rituals, there is a reverence of the divine and gratitude for the wonder of nature and being. We acknowledge that worship does not just happen in services on Sundays, but yet there is something special about worshiping together. Some of our members have shared that what is important is an experience of: inspiration & contemplation community connectedness with all of life joyful expression introspection critical reflection Though our Sunday services follow some of the protestant Christian ceremonial observances, they are not limited to these sources and they can vary from week to week. We create a balance between continuity and change. During the school year our senior minister provides the majority of the sermons, but the work is shared across all of our ministers and in the summer many of our services are lay led - often with guest speakers.
