Kanawha Stone

Kanawha Stone Company was founded by Art King in 1973 under a set of core values in which he promised to provide quality service and maintain loyalty to customers, employees, vendors and the community. During the next 40 years, Art and his wife Virginia guided the company through its progression from a small, Kanawha Valley construction company to a regional, diversified organization. Kanawha Stone Company's achievements in completing successful community infrastructure projects are attributed to those core values that remain at the heart of its operations. As the company grew, Art and Virginia continued to invest in the core values on which it was founded. The hard work resulted in project successes and satisfied customers, employees, vendors and the communities Kanawha Stone Company served. Art and Virginia are recognized by numerous organizations for their positive civic contributions and were named Co-Entrepreneurs of the Year by Ernst and Young for their success. While Art and Virginia remain at the forefront of Kanawha Stone Company's operations, the family's second generation is now involved in daily leadership of the company. Children Tom Kittredge, PMP; Ashley Lioi, PE; and Amelia King Randolph, MBA have taken shareholder roles in addition to other daily duties. Tom also serves as President, Ashley as a Project Engineer, and Amelia as a Project Engineer (Energy) for the company.
