Karara Mining

Karara Mining Ltd was established in 2007 through a joint venture between Anshan Iron and Steel Group Corporation (52.16%) and Gindalbie Metals Limited (47.84%) for the development of the world-class Karara Operation. The project, located 200km east of Geraldton, is the first major magnetite operation in the Mid-West and will underpin a substantial, long-life iron ore business. The operation includes a large open pit mine, a processing plant to produce magnetite concentrate, and all associated infrastructure. The design production rate is 8Mtpa. Karara produces high grade magnetite concentrate. The first shipment of magnetite concentrate was in January 2013. Karara is committed to working with local communities to support sustainable development in the Mid-West region. Our environmental objective is to maintain the abundance, diversity, geographic distribution and productivity of flora and fauna at species and ecosystem levels. Karara will minimise any impact or potential impact on flora and fauna at the Karara minesite and associated infrastructure through proactive management and compliance with established policies.
