K&D commenced operation as a small timber merchant business, established in 1902 by Andrew Kemp & Victor Denning The Companies main activities are: Merchandising of timber, building materials, hardware and home related products. Manufacturer and seller of fired clay bricks and pavers The company operates thoroughout Tasmania and Victoria, exporting a range of bricks and pavers to Japan. K&D opened Australia's first Home and Building retail Warehouse in Hobart in October 1986. A second warehouse store was opened in Glenorchy, a suburb of Hobart in 1996. A third warehouse store was opened in Shepparton, Victoria in November 2001. Sales Turnover in financial year 2007 was approximately $A71.9 million. Member of Mitre 10 Australia Limited, with over 700 member stores.
