Kingsley Pines Camp

Since Kingsley Pines offers a wide variety of activities, we wanted to get an idea of what campers were most drawn to. Parents said some of the activities most popular with their children were wakeboarding and waterskiing, fencing, whitewater rafting, and Galactic Invasion Day. Galactic Invasion Day was a big hit with both younger and older campers during fourth session. Some of the games we played included blacklight dodge ball and giant volleyball (with a 5 foot ball!). There was a massive water balloon fight, slime-making, and a blacklight lounge for older campers with games and refreshments. Above all however, parents mentioned that their children valued time spent with friends the most. Our staff are an integral part of the camp experience and we pride ourselves on having a strong, close-knit, supportive team of creative and responsible individuals that are devoted to the purpose of camp. We were very pleased to hear so many positive comments in regards to their interactions with campers last summer: "I found the camp staff and counselors to be extremely caring and attentive to every need or concern. My son's counselors were full of fun and made my son's experience a very positive and memorable one." "Tommy particularly respected and enjoyed Sean and Kallen. He seemed to feel that they did a very good job of balancing responsibility, support and fun." "Whatever your hiring process is...it must be stellar. From my daughter's stories it seems that the counselors were the crucial ingredient in the recipe of the children having a safe but fun time." As we continually strive to provide campers with the most capable and well-trained counselors, we have added an additional day of staff training this year for a total of 8 days. This exceeds the American Camping Associations standard of 6 days of training. When asked if their child would be returning this summer, 75% of parents gave a resounding "YES" and 22% said "MAYBE"- most often due to financial obligations or other summer plans. 100% of respondents said they would be happy to serve as a reference for Kingsley Pines! Although there was no clear consensus on specific areas to improve, several parents requested larger food portions for the boys. Also, in term of facility requests for next year, campers were so enthusiastic about the new giant chess game on the lodge porch that several parents requested additional tables. It was a hit, to say the least. Many campers crowded around the giant chess table to watch the games (Not to mention, provide their own input!) and it sparked a big interest in learning how to play chess. We are looking forward to adding a second giant chess table this summer. Thank you for all those who participated in the survey. We truly appreciate the time you took to share your child's camp experience with us so that we may continue to improve our program, staff and activity offerings. We are looking forward to a another great camp season.
