Kingswood School

Kingswood School

Kingswood has the reputation of being one of the leading Schools in the country in sustainable development and the students are very proud of the green credentials of the new pavilion. They recognise the importance of balancing economic (cost & savings), social (their value for educational purposes) and of course, environmental considerations (carbon emissions saved). Architect George Batterham, of Batterham Matthews Design, who had incorporated a number of other sustainable features within the design of the building, spoke during the meeting and said, "This 4 KW array should provide enough electricity on average across the year for about 55% of the electricity needed. It has been fitted with an output meter to monitor the actual electricity generated and used by the pavilion. I am sure the pupils will find this very interesting as part of their on-going research". Pupils from the Eco-Schools Committee made the following comments: "We are all very happy that the school has taken this step to further sustainability and are pleased that our views and suggestions were taken into account. It is a significant step in the right direction and we hope it encourages further advancement in this area.
