KIPP NYC

KIPP NYC is the family of all KIPP programming in New York City , KIPP Academy (founded in 1995), KIPP STAR (2003), KIPP AMP (2005), KIPP Infinity (2005), and KIPP to College (2001). KIPP is designed to teach our students to develop the academic and character skills necessary for success in high school and college, to be self-sufficient in the competitive world beyond, and to build a better tomorrow for themselves and us all. KIPP NYC currently serves over 1,400 KIPP students and alumni, employs over 130 remarkably talented and fun people :), and has a combined operating budget of nearly $16 million. By 2010, KIPP NYC will include six schools, over 2,700 students and alumni, over 150 employees, and a combined operating budget of greater than $23 million. KIPP New York, Inc. was created in the winter of 2005 as the fundraising umbrella for all KIPP programming in New York City. Ideally, all gifts are made in an unrestricted fashion to KIPP New York, Inc. The Board of KIPP New York, Inc. then ensures that all of KIPP NYC's various programmatic needs are met. Should this not suit the wishes of a particular KIPP friend, targeted grants can be made directly to any of the programs listed below. KIPP New York, Inc. also intends to raise a 20% operating reserve each year. KIPP to College (KTC) launched in 2001 and isa comprehensive advocacy and support program for all KIPP NYC alumni. KTC is in regular contact with 100% of KIPP alumni and implements programming through five teams: High School Placement and Academic Support, College Counseling, Career Services, Counseling and Enrichment Programs, and Operations. KTC empowers alumni for success in college and the world beyond. KIPP Opportunity Fund (KOF) provides financial assistance on a need and merit basis to KIPP alumni in three areas: tuition assistance in high school and college, summer internship stipends in high school and college, as well as education support stipends (books, travel, sports equipment, etc.). KIPP NYC Shared Services Team (SST) provides development, operations, finance, human resources, and technology services to all KIPP NYC programs. By focusing on these areas, the Shared Services Team ensures that every other member of the KIPP NYC team is able to solely dedicate themselves to the needs of our students and families. All costs associated with the SST are built into the operating budgets of all KIPP NYC programming.
