Kirk Group
The Kirk Group commenced business as Kirk Engineering in 1972, Graeme and Kay Kirk as the sole directors operated from a small factory in the south western suburbs of Sydney. Specialising as a supplier of engineering services to the Printing Industry the company developed a successful market for Anilox rollers and Slitting Knives. The copper plating and chroming of anilox rollers provided an ideal introduction into the Gravure market. In 1986 the Kirk Group purchased their first electronic Gravure engraver and commenced supply of Gravure cylinders later that year. The Kirk Group's growth was comparatively rapid during the early 1990s with the successful supply of Gravure cylinders to the Flexible and Carton Printing industries. With this growth two additional engravers were installed allowing sales growth into Victoria and New Zealand. A sales office in Melbourne was expanded into a manufacturing site with one engraver and a plating line in 1995. A joint venture with a New Zealand company in 1997, allowed the opening of Colorite Engraving, located in Auckland New Zealand.
