Koga Engineering, although licensed to do both Engineering and Building construction, concentrates primarily on construction type projects involving excavation, utilities and roadwork. The Company also specializes in site preparation for General Building Contractors as a subcontractor. Work is obtained through competitive bidding and negotiating various types of contracts (fixed price, cost-plus, unit price, etc.). Customers include governmental agencies (Federal, State and County), private developers, municipalities and private industry. Koga Engineering & Construction, Inc. was founded on November 1, 1973 by Malcolm T. Koga, who currently serves as Chairman Emeritus. The first year in business produced contract revenues of $700,000. Koga Engineering currently averages $24 million of revenues per year and has consistently ranked in the Top 25 among the State's general contractors. The company has offices in Honolulu, Kauaʻi, and the Big Island. Koga Engineering is signatory to the Operating Engineers, Laborers, Masons and Carpenters master agreements. Koga Engineering is also an active member of the General Contractors Association (GCA) of Hawaiʻi, which is the local chapter of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America.
