Laois County Council advises that, from 8th June 2021, works will commence on the R420 surfacing project within Portarlington town as part of the Laois County Council Roads Programme. The Scheme involves the resurfacing of approximately 1.1km of the R420 Regional Road, from the Barrow Bridge, along French Church Street, onto the Link Road and down Main Street to the Kilnacourt/Station Road Roundabout. The project is funded by Department of Transport. Roadstone Ltd are the main contractors and the works will take approximately 3 weeks to complete. The works will be undertaken in phases and carried out between the hours of 20:00 - 06.00. Various temporary traffic management arrangements will be in place for the duration of the works with a particular focus on local, stop-go systems. Variable Message Boards will be in place in advance of the works.
