Lokado

LOKADO was formed in 2003 and registered with the then Social Services department as a CBO. The formation was out of need arising from cross border violent conflict that was hiding inside cattle rustling and theft. Many lives and property (livelihoods - livestock) were lost. Communities of Lokichoggio, Oropoi and Kakuma divisions thought of a vibrant structure that will help them address cross border atrocities. This then brought forth the unity of these three administrative divisions to form LOKADO. Initially, LOKADO stood for Lokichoggio Oropoi and Kakuma Development Organization. The organization using the same name registered with NGO bureau as a local NGO in 2007. Eight years down the line, the organization rebranded in March 2015 as Lotus Kenya Action for Development Organization but maintaining the abbreviation - LOKADO. This was meant to grasp and accommodate realignment, enhanced recognition and community trust. LOKADO operates according to its vision, mission and adherent to humanitarian core values. The vision of LOKADO is to be a vibrant and sustaining institution that promotes a peaceful and just society built on people-driven means.
