Lowcosttravelgroup

Lowcostholidays, part of the Lowcosttravelgroup, today announces the first stage in its plans to centralise its pan European business into its subsidiary, Lowcostholidays Spain, S.L. It has moved its UK and Scandinavian businesses and forward bookings into its Spanish subsidiary and all future bookings will be made through this Spanish entity. Paul Evans, CEO of the Lowcosttravelgroup said "As we globalise the Group, we are centralising our lowcostholidays business and simplifying our structure. We now employ over 100 staff in our Majorca Palma centre, and having a single trading entity through which all of our holidays are sold means we can achieve significant efficiencies and cost savings. It means our administration, operations and regulatory functions can be centralised." "Under the EU Package Travel Directive, all our customers will benefit from enhanced and full package travel protection under Spanish law, consistent with the EU package travel regulations'', adds Evans. Customers are now getting a 'package booking' instead of simply maintenance of their existing bookings with different suppliers and receive enhanced legal protection. Although Lowcostholidays Spain, S.L. is established in Spain, its terms and conditions make it clear that it accepts English law and the jurisdiction of the English courts should customers have complaints about their holiday. New legislation introduced by the CAA in 2012 makes it clear that companies 'established in an EEA state' which sell air packages are exempt from the ATOL scheme. "It also means all of our pan European businesses will be regulated under Spanish law and effectively under the overarching regulation across Europe of the EU Package Travel Directive. Customers will benefit from full package travel protection under Spanish law, consistent with the EU package travel regulations'', concluded Evans. Evans concludes, "When I set up this company 10 years ago, I wanted to offer great value flexible holidays to our customers. This founding objective remains as important to me and my staff today as ever. Our customers trust us and value the great priced holidays we sell. This is why they book with us and our move to Spain means we can now sell packages giving even greater customer protection." Mr Don Carlos Delgado, Secretary General of Tourism for the Balearics, stated "We are delighted to welcome lowcostholidays to the Balearic Islands and the establishment of its European centre in Palma, Mallorca. The investment in jobs, technology and infrastructure shows great confidence in one of the leading tourism economic areas. lowcostholidays is now fully licensed under Spanish and Balearic Law, which implements the EU Council Package Travel Directive (90/314/EEC) and complies entirely with all relevant financial protection arrangements, obligations and liability insurance requirements. "lowcostholidays has created over 150 jobs in Palma and we look forward to a long term and successful relationship with the company.
