Kanton Luzern
Founded in 1178, Kanton Luzern is a canton of Switzerland. It is located in the center of Switzerland. The cantonal capital is Lucerne. The lands of the canton lie on the northern foothills of the Swiss Alps (Urner Alps). The Canton is divided into six districts, Entlebuch, Hochdorf, Luzern-Land, Luzern-Stadt, Sursee, Willisau. Much of the land in the canton is used for agriculture. Kanton Luzern is a gateway to holiday resorts in the nearby Alps, and much of the transit traffic between Germany and Italy crosses the region.
