Luce Bay Group

The Luce Bay Group operates from its base at Droughduil, Dunragit, near Stranraer and remains a family firm committed to best practice and the highest standards across the full range of activities in which it is engaged. Luce Bay, with its distinctive orange colour scheme seen on most of its fleet of vehicles, was founded in 1968, initially to carry out land drainage work on farms across Wigtownshire. The business quickly evolved into plant hire for which it has become best known across south-west Scotland where the company mostly operates. However, its portfolio of services grew rapidly to include site clearance and construction in the 1980s, followed by quarrying, engineering and the construction of steel-framed buildings, mostly in the farming sector. By the early 1990s, ready mix concrete had been added to its portfolio and Luce Bay was also involved in larger civil engineering projects alongside its continuing commitment to customers both large and small. Luce Bay now employs 100 people from joiners, mechanics and welders through to plant operators, construction works and administrative staff.
