Maghull High School

Maghull High School is delighted to announce that sixteen students of the school have been publicly honoured with the Diana Award. The Diana Award was established in 1999 as a lasting legacy to Diana, Princess of Wales' belief that young people have the power to change the world. The award exists to celebrate young people who support others and strive to improve their communities, demonstrating the qualities associated with the late Princess - compassion and selfless commitment to enhancing the lives of others. The sixteen students receiving the award make up our school Peer Mentor team. They are a group of students, trained by the Well Young Person project, to support other students throughout school. They work through the Phoenix Centre and carry out a host of duties, mainly supporting our anti-bullying strategy and working with more vulnerable students but also playing a part in recent fundraising efforts. They have been given the group Diana Anti-Bullying Award. As well as this, two of the group have received their own individual recognition - Jay Wainwright has been given the Diana Champion Volunteer award for his invaluable contributions throughout his five years in school but in particular for his sacrifice of two week's summer holiday last year to help run summer school, where he was a fantastic role model for our new Year 7 students. John Smith has been given the Diana Courageous Citizen award for his courageous approach to life which has seen him succeed in the face of adversity. We at Maghull High School are extremely proud of our students in gaining these awards and would like to take this opportunity not only to thank them for all of their endeavours but also to congratulate them for this fantastic achievement.
